UofG student and President of ESN UofG Rosie Birchard was recently invited to address the House of Commons Education Select Committee on the impact of Brexit on higher education. Recognised as an expert on the student experience of mobility and the Erasmus+ programme, she sat on a panel alongside Dr. Jo Beall, Director of Education at the British Council, Sally Hunt, General Secretary of the University and College Union, and Sorana Vieru, Vice President for Education at the National Union of Students. Rosie initially co-authored a written submission to a government inquiry on the topic which can be viewed here.
Having consulted with members of the Erasmus Student Network in non-EU countries such as Switzerland and Norway, Rosie gave evidence on the differences between programme and partnership membership of the Erasmus+ programme, the threats posed to certain degree programmes such as Modern Languages, and the value of international campuses and student mobility in general.
Press coverage of the event quotes the UofG student, who was recently featured as one the University of Glasgow’s world-changers for her work on campus. A full stream of the session is available here.
